2.4.6 adds the feature we were asked for most, right-click to download a video, and fixes three everyday annoyances: a pinned tab that wandered off, a loading ring that never stopped, and Picture in Picture that opened on its own.
Right-click to download a video
Right-click a video and choose Download Video. Video and sound are saved to Downloads as one file. It works for regular video files and for unencrypted HLS and DASH streams.
Getting the right video on a busy page was the hard part. Feeds often load several videos at once, so S3 matches the video you clicked to the page's own media requests instead of guessing. We checked this in real, signed-in browsing, not just in test pages, and each result went straight into the next fix.
Some videos stay unavailable, with a short reason in the menu: DRM-protected content, and videos whose site doesn't allow downloading. Please download only videos you have the right to save.
Pinned tabs stay put
Typing another site into a pinned tab now opens it in a new tab, and the pin stays on its own site. The rule already existed, but right after S3 started, a pinned tab that hadn't loaded yet had no site to compare against, so the typed address replaced the pin.
Small things that add up
Loading ring: on sites that navigate within the page, the tab's loading ring could keep spinning long after the page had loaded. It now stops when the page is done.
Picture in Picture: no longer opens on its own when you switch tabs, and sites can't start it either. Double-click the video or use the player's button.
Lighter: the background work behind video downloads is down by half or more on busy pages.
