S3 Browser 2.4.9: embedded panels that open

Embedded app panels on web pages now open as they do in Safari, AI tools can get permission for an hour or for today, and many AI tool fixes.

2.4.9 makes embedded app panels on web pages open in S3 the way they do in Safari, lets you give an AI tool permission for a set time, and fixes a long list of problems we found while AI tools worked in S3 on real sites.

Embedded panels that wouldn't open

Some sites show results in a small app panel embedded inside the page. In S3 these panels appeared for a moment and were replaced by a "couldn't display" message, while the same page worked in Safari.

The panel loaded fine. The problem came right after: when the page rebuilt itself, S3's link preview script was set up again on top of the old one, and the old copy kept listening. The panel's first messages with the page were caught twice and its startup failed within a tenth of a second. Each setup of the script now keeps its own listeners and retires the previous ones, so the panel's messages reach only the page they are meant for.

Permission for an hour, or for today

A floating glass card holds three blank rounded pill buttons, with the middle one glowing blue. Beside it is a glass ring with a blue segment on a near-black background.
You can allow an AI tool to act for an hour or for today, and revoke it in Settings.

When an AI tool asks to act in S3, you can now allow it for 1 hour or for today, not only once or always. Granted permissions show their remaining time in Settings, where you can revoke them at any moment.

Steadier AI tools

We also fixed what came up while AI tools read pages, waited for answers and filled in forms:

  • Reading a page no longer comes back empty when the part S3 chose has no visible text; it falls back to the page's visible text.

  • Opening an address reports both the requested address and the one that actually opened, instead of the previous page.

  • Waits can last up to 10 minutes, and a cancelled wait no longer closes its tab.

  • Message boxes can be found by their placeholder text, and long page summaries list the focused and visible fields first.

  • Uploads to hidden file fields work, and the approval window appears in whichever workspace you are in.

  • Tabs opened by AI tools now use the same desktop width as your window.
